What would you prefer to buy: a new Swiss watch or a used one?

The price rules, first of all. Discount on used Swiss watches directly depends on their service life.

  • New packaged model (never worn) is 30% cheaper;

  • Figuratively new watch (worn on special occasions) is 50% cheaper.

If a watch was actively worn for 5-7 years, you can count on a 50-70% discount. The price for models more than a decade old is set individually. Much depends on the model popularity, used precious metals, and other parameters in this case.

In other words, used Swiss watch can be bought for 1/2 or even 1/3 of the price of a new one.

The experts believe that the most successful purchase is a watch younger than 5 years old. Given the reliability of Swiss models, even if worn constantly, this lot remains almost new, but the price will be twice lower.

How reliable is it?

It's all clear with the savings. But will the proverb "be nice or buy twice" work in this case? Let's see.

A genuine Swiss watch serves at least 3 decades. This is proved by reviews of watchmakers and claims of manufacturers. Talking about Swiss models, one can rather speak of "moral obsolescence" than of technical one.

The most important is to regularly service the watch. This should be done every 3 to 5 years on average. Of course, the tightness should be controlled as well.

If the model was constantly worn, it may have minor scratches, but they can be easily removed by polishing. Such a procedure costs about 10 thousand rubles, and the watch looks like new after it.

A used Swiss watch is obviously cheaper than a new one, although it does not differ from the brand new models in technical terms.

As they say, why pay more?

The most important thing is to deal the reliable sellers who conduct pre-sales preparation and check each lot.
